Red Ribbon Week:
The National Red Ribbon Week is an annual event that is commemorated during the last week of October. Schools across the nation take part in this drug prevention campaign to demonstrate their fight against the use of drugs and to encourage students to make smart and healthy choices. During this week, we educate and celebrate school unity and pledge to be drug free for life.
More importantly, Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe.
