Bolivar Elementary School students and teachers lined the sidewalks of Nuckolls Road this morning for a parade honoring the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the first responders who risked and gave their lives trying to save them. Students watched quietly and thankfully as a stream of firemen, law enforcement officials, emergency medical technicians, and others drove by in their ambulances, fire trucks, and S.U.V.s. Mr. Rogers once said that when he saw scary things in the news, his mother would advise him to “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” Bolivar Elementary’s students and staff would like to say, “thank you” to all of the helpers from Hardeman and surrounding counties who showed up today and show up every day.
